Ms. Kappus is an effective litigator who honed her legal advocacy skills during her service as both a prosecutor and public defender before focusing her practice on handling complex civil litigation. Ms. Kappus has successfully tried cases to verdict before both New York Criminal and State Supreme Courts.
Ms. Kappus graduated with honors from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a degree in Business Administration before earning a Juris Doctorate (J.D.), with honors, from the University at Buffalo School of Law in 2012. During her education, Ms. Kappus was selected as a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and the Tau Sigma National Honor Society.
Ms. Kappus joined Certain & Zilberg, LLP as a trial attorney and is a dedicated, caring, and passionate member of our litigation team. Carmel Kappus litigates matters on behalf of survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and those who have suffered serious injuries as a result of defective products, police misconduct, or the negligence of others. Ms. Kappus is admitted to practice law before the Courts of the State of New York and Florida.
